It's a Sad Day For America, Everybody: Goodbye Late Late Show

I'm a big fan of The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson. I always loved how it was the anti-talk show. Although every night would open with a cold open, a monologue, viewer mail, interviews, and a "what did we learn on the show tonight, Craig" 30 second closer, you really didn't know what was going to happen next. The show was always hilarious, fresh, and, most importantly, smart. He didn't treat you like you were an idiot, and he certainly didn't do stupid shit which featured [insert celebrity, meme, or nostalgic thing]. I think you can figure out who I don't like all that much. What matters is that Craig Ferguson has just completed his last Late Late Show, and the entire time I was watching it, I legitimately felt upset. Craig Ferguson is just such a natural at what he does. Sure, in the beginning he was a bit rusty, but so was Conan O'Brien and look where he is now. The great thing about Ferguson is he has instant replay value. He is a fantastic st…

Snobs and Fast Food

I’m a big fan of Penn and Teller: Bullshit and the movie Fat Head, a follow up to SuperSize Me for a couple of reasons. One of which: I’m absolutely sick of people telling me how to live my life. Watch a couple episodes of Bullshit, and you’ll see how people that want to tell other people what to do are mostly pretentious assholes with an endless supply of cash. They’ll argue that fast food companies are tricking people into eating the food because it’s cheap and we’re stupid. Well, they got one thing right: it’s cheap. Yes, for most of these snobs, it’s hard to see what life’s like in another person’s shoes, and food is expensive. Not everyone can afford to buy all natural food, especially for an entire family. Not to mention that most expensive restaurants serve meals with higher calories than fast food. And whenever a person who wants people to make decisions for themselves comes on the show, they don’t present their ideas in a way to make you feel stupid, they do it in a way to m…

Lack of Motivation

Back in 2009, I started the YouTube channel “AnthonyGVideos.” I made it to share my thoughts on technology and to get my voice out there. It was a time when if you worked really hard, you could gain a decent viewership. The YouTube community, while still trying to make money, really was just doing it for the fun of it. YouTube comments were easy to read, and feedback was easily heard. The great part about it was I never felt like I was talking to a brick wall. Most of my videos would get 300-500 views, because the platform allowed for users to discover new people. It was really fun. Fast forward to today, it seems YouTube is on a downward slope. It’s harder than ever to get noticed, and even big YouTubers are noticing a rapid decline. Google+ just makes it so hard to find actual engaging conversations because it only puts comments that get the most attention at the top, and most the time, they’re just trolls that get these mass amounts of idiots responding. Now I’m lucky if over 30 p…

I'm Going Full Microsoft

I don’t know what happened in the past week, but something hit me, and I started to really get into Microsoft services. In order: I use OneDrive for everything, mainly because Windows Phone backs up all my photos to it, so I use it anyway.I put all my songs on the XBOX Music app thing.I’m using a lot more Metro apps than before.I’m using Bing as my default search engine. And this one might shock some people, I’m using Internet Explorer. You’re probably wondering what drugs I’m on to be using IE and Bing. First of all, I don’t do drugs. Second of all, IE is not as bad as you think. Okay, that makes it sound bad. It’s very good. And it makes text look really smooth on any device. And it’s nothing like it used to be. It’s much faster and just does things really well. So honestly, give IE a good try, as long as it’s IE 11. I can’t really speak for anything else. Oh and Bing is honestly just as good as Google. Much more cleaner. Although I’ll admit, sometimes the results aren’t as good, it’…

Why I Decided Against a Surface Pro 3

So here’s the deal-e-oh. I wanted to purchase a top of the line Windows 8 tablet. Why? Because I’m a Microsoft fanboy, and honestly, I think the Metro UI is the best touch experience out there. So when it came to researching for a tablet, immediately there was no contest. The Surface Pro 3 was first on my list for many reasons. One, it’s made by the same people who make the operating system, so it’s gotta be good, right? And two, it’s extremely well designed. But the only thing that made me hesitant was the price. For a mid-range Surface Pro 3, we’re talkin’ $1,299 for an i5 256 GB model. And that’s not including the $149 keyboard cover, which is essentially mandatory for a good Windows 8 experience. Nonetheless, I was ready. I came this close to clicking the “buy” button, when I stopped, looked at the price, and said “eh, might as well go check it out in person.” So I hopped in the AnthonyMobile and drove to Best Buy. And there it was, the same Surface Pro 3 in stock, with a keyboar…

Onision is a hypocrite, but you already knew that

Sometimes I get into moods where I like watching rants on YouTube. I don’t know why, it’s just interesting to see people get so passionate about something. One of the ones I re-watched recently was a debate Onision held with Someguy827, where through the entire thing, Onision basically dodged questions either by answering with a condescending question or with an outright lie talking about how he changed when you can see, even today, he’s still the same old asshole. But one thing that pissed me off the most about the whole thing was the ending. Onision asked Someguy827 why if he hated him so much, he put so much attention and anger towards that one thing, and told him that it’s only logical that if you don’t like something, you leave that thing alone. *Facepalm* It’s human nature to rant about the things we don’t like. It shows that we care about something so much that we want it to change for the better. And in this case, it’s so Onision stops manipulating other people. And Onision o…

I don't understand Chris Pirillo's dislike of the dislike button

Of all the people I follow on YouTube, no one seems to want more positive feedback than Chris Pirillo. And please understand me: I’ve been a fan of Chris’s for a long time, since about 2009ish. I strongly value his opinions, being both honest and accurate, and am a paying patron on ChrisPirillo.com . I am in no way a “hater”, just a fan that cares. And being a fan, I don’t believe anyone should just blindly follow everything a person does just because you like what they do. You can have issues with things.  That being said, I watch his Pirillo Vlogs almost every day. I just enjoy watching Chris in a more engaging way than with his live.pirillo.com stream. He’s a very interesting person. But one thing I don’t like hearing is him saying at the end of every video “thanks again for liking, sharing, commenting, and watching even more of our videos right now after clicking the gear icon next to the subscribe button to be notified of our videos.” Now, this could just a sincere acknowledgmen…

It's a not so great day for America, everybody.

Today, it was announced that Craig Ferguson would be leaving The Late Late Show sometime in December. To be honest, I’m sort of happy this is happening, and here’s why. Back in the summer of 2011, that’s when I first started my love of David Letterman. I was looking back at his old Late Night things, and was really getting into Late Show, even though it was no where near as funny as his old stuff. But then, after the show was over, one night I decided to stay on CBS to see what the show was like. Instantly, I was hooked. It just felt different from everything else on TV, especially with Craig’s gay talking skeleton robot Geoff, which back when he only said about 5 different things was hilarious. The moments when Secretariat would come in and everyone in the studio went crazy were amazing, and it honestly had me laughing out loud, which I don’t do all that often with TV shows now-a-days. Craig just seemed to have fun doing the show. That and the fact that Craig would constantly talk a…

Stop Blaming Television, Parents

I follow a Simpsons blog here on Tumblr, and one of things they do every so often is show an FCC complaint made by a viewer, where they describe what they feel is too inappropriate for broadcast television, and then the clip is shown. And every time, I get really pissed off. I hate how some parents feel that television channels should be responsible for taking care of children rather than the parents. It’s like they honestly feel that the entire world revolves around their stupid kid, and their inability to properly discuss with them what goes on in the real world. Be a parent, and tell your kid to not watch the things you don’t want them to watch, or explain to them that it’s just a television show and to not do or take serious the things in the show. It’s not Fox’s fault, or any network or personality that your kid watched their content. Besides the obvious fact that no one is forcing your kid to be tainted by inappropriate television, there’s this fancy thing called the internet w…

Don't hate on Chromebooks

Everyone’s biased. I am a total Microsoft fanboy. I absolutely love my Windows Phone, and want my next PC to be a Surface Pro 2. That being said, I don’t understand Microsoft’s ad campaign against Chromebooks. Their main points of hatred are: It has to be connected to the internet all the time. You can’t install apps like Office. To anyone that uses the internet argument, honestly tell me how often you use a computer without the internet. It’s 2014, what can you even do on a computer without the internet today? I can think of a couple things, maybe watch a DVD, play minesweeper, play with the screen savers, that’s about it. Would I want to do any of these things? No. Every time I lose internet or have no access to it, I cry. It’s basically the same thing I’d do with a Chromebook without the internet. And honestly, how often do people use Office anymore? Google Docs is free and pretty good. It’s not as good as Office, but it’s free. Not to mention, Microsoft already makes a free office …

I'm confused by the 99% Protesters

I just watched and read an article about how Kevin Rose, an employee of Google Ventures, a tech start-up company and previous host of Diggnation and The Screen Savers on TechTV, had his home protested by an anti-tech army. They’re angry because: The tech boom in San Francisco brings in entrepreneurs who get paid a lot of money. They don’t get any of this money. They have to work for these entrepreneurs at low paying jobs. Hearing these people protest is like hearing a five year old complain they can’t get the toy they want. These protesters seem to think that because start-ups get handed all this money, they don’t actually have to work, that they get to sit around all day. Starting, running, and maintaining a business is extremely hard tedious work that takes experience, non-stop care and dedication. I can’t even imagine the amount of stress these people have to go through all day with the uncertainty of their business sustaining. You can’t just sit back and enjoy the ride, because that…

Taco Bell breakfast is absolutely wonderful

Let me just start out by saying I love Taco Bell. I could (and have) eat there everyday and be completely happy at the end of the week. So when I found out Taco Bell was going to be introducing breakfast at all restaurants, I was thrilled. Now, I could eat Taco Bell at all hours of the day. I don’t know what it is about Taco Bell, but even the employees love being there. They’re always so happy, and this morning was no exception. So today, I got the Bacon AM Crunchwrap #14 Combo with orange juice and two Cinnabons. You can get a hash brown instead of the Cinnabons if you so choose, but I figured the AM Crunchwrap has a hash brown inside, I might as well get something else. The AM Crunchwrap is a bit smaller than a normal Crunchwrap, but just as packed with breakfast goodness. The first bite, I was hooked. I knew right there that Taco Bell breakfast had taken over as my favorite breakfast fast food place. The AM Crunchwrap has the perfect combination of eggs, cheese, spicy nacho sauce…

AT&T has fantastic customer service

My Nokia Lumia 920’s been acting up. My first 920’s front facing camera somehow got a ton of dust in it, so I called up AT&T and it was covered under my warranty. Great, they sent me a replacement phone, it works good and my front facing camera is completely clean. Now, I’m noticing that the vibration thing is not working and the volume button sometimes stops working and holds down, even though it isn’t being clicked. So I call up AT&T and they tell me that because it was a replacement phone, there’s only a 90 day warranty and it’s been past 90 days. Then, the guy puts me on hold to talk to his manager, and tells me that because we’ve been loyal customers for years, AT&T would give me a free upgrade to any phone. So now, I’ve got a red Nokia Lumia 1520 16 GB coming my way. I cannot begin to explain how unbelievably pleased I am with AT&T. I thought I’d just have to live with the phone for a year until my contract was up, but AT&T is giving me a free upgrade to a ne…

I cannot stand Onision

I just watched Onision’s latest video titled “Why I don’t date emo boys” told from the perspective of some unfortunate actress who is now known as being associated with this douchebag. Either way, I watched it, and it wasn’t funny. It was just really offensive. Now don’t get me wrong, I’m not someone who gets easily offended by humor that is not politically correct. I have one twisted dark sense of humor, for example, I laughed all throughout Pulp Fiction. Except at the scene with Butch and his girlfriend, that just annoys me. What I have an issue with is when people don’t know how to be funny, so they just start bashing people with the hopes that someone will laugh. Like during a Comedy Central Roast, they’re not just making fun of celebrities by pointing out random things, they’re using their brain to come up with actual jokes at the celebrity’s expense. Except for The Situation. Onision is like The Situation when it comes to comedy. This video was just hurtful, with seemingly no a…
